steppin' off the crazy train

I walked into school this morning thinking that I had stepped off of the crazy train but it appears that I'm still on it. School was unusual today. Must be Spring fever. I'm not sure if I should chalk it up to that or what.
Last week was a bit of a whirlwind! Wednesday night, I hit Wildfiber with my sister to purchase some yarn for her Something Blue. I don't have any pics of what I've got so far but it's coming along. :) I'm sure it will be completed way before Christmas rolls around! After we hit the yarn shop, we were off to her friends' place where she was pet sitting. Thursday came and went at school and then I was off for San Francisco. We went to see my family as well. Here's what the lil munchkin was doing Sunday morning..enjoying "Toy Story"
still enjoying Toy Story!
"I take a picture?" (munchkin) "Sure." (me...not knowing she knew how to turn the freakin' camera on!)
and here's her second shot!
a final image-the munchkin walking her 'puppy.' Gotta love it. And some knitting bliss..a skein of Robyn's Nest Flock of Feathers Sock yarn in Pink Tiger Lily. It's so pretty I was speechless for a full on minute.

week in review

Well, I received the second shipment of the Sundara Sock Yarn Club and I picked up tuscan over lemon. It was my sister's birthday on Wednesday and my fiance and I whipped up this cake for her. Growing up, I didn't acquire the taste for chocolate cake because my mom's chocolate cakes were always dry. This cake was one of the moistiest chocolate cakes I've ever had! I'd like to think that's it partly due to the substitutions we did-we used applesauce instead of oil but who knows. Either way, it was yummy! I completed my first beret: I'm not thoroughly happy with it but it isn't bad for my first (at least that's what my fiance keeps telling me). There's another pattern I want to try out but I'm going to wait a bit. I had a bout with startitis and have frogged a couple of scarf projects because my heart wasn't in them...but as of last night, I now have a project I can focus on: This is the first pattern repeat of my partner teacher's birthday gift. :) It's the butternut scarf. I'm using Three Irish Girls Beckon Merino in Auspicious. She's a blue lover and I'm hoping that she adores this scarf. I've got a couple of conferences that I'll be attending next week and this will definitely get worked on. I just might cast on for that second beret as well. Now if I could only find a sock pattern I wanted to cast on for...there might even be a sweater in the mix for my sister. She finally picked one (with a little help from me!). I had wanted to have the yarn at least by her birthday so I could cast on for it but that didn't happen. But hopefully soon because I'm kind of itching to get started on it! I've got a babysitting gig tonight and some friends & family shopping to do before the weekend is over!

knitting like crazy

I spent the weekend knitting furiously. I received a long awaited package of some yummy malabrigo. which became this: Excuse the ratty hair. It was a rush picture that I nabbed once I got home from work today. It is sooooooooooo soft and I love the ruffles. It was the sole reason of wanting to knit up this pattern! :) Before I even finished my scarf, I started to look at some beret/slouchy patterns and I've got three picked out but need to narrow it down. I'm not sure if I've got the right face shape for a slouchy/beret but I guess I'm going to find out. Plus my SIL kind of requested one and thank goodness I found some patterns that don't require a specific head size. I also received some yarn yesterday. It's container garden from the plucky knitter. I love that March is a green month..I'm guaranteed green yarn! :) Many things will be brewing here for the next few months. I've got a trip to SF later this month, parent conferences, Spring Break, and then some! Thankfully the knitting is keeping me sane and focused. :)
