Hot Cocoa Swap Questionnaire

Okay, I better get on it so I'm not a response to one of the scavenger hunt questions!! Cocoa: 1. What is your favorite way to drink cocoa? Prepared with milk? Water? from home made recipe or store bought?, In a tea cup, or big mug? It depends really. My favorite kind of cocoa though is Mexican Hot Chocolate made with the chocolate tablets which gets blended with warm milk. I like to drink it in big mugs. Growing up I'd drink using water. Now I know better. ;) 2. Marshmallows or whipped cream? Ooh, I'd say whipped cream. Though occasionally I'll have it with marshmallows. Yarn/Knitting/Crochet 1. What is your favorite type of yarn? In what colors? I love variegated yarn though I need to buy more solid colored yarn. I like wool blends..not a fan of alpaca (I find it itchy). My current favorite colors are winter colors-dark reds/greens/blues/grays and autumn colors. Colors full of richness--bluish-violets, burgundies, etc. Check my yarn stash! :) 2. Do you knit or crochet (or both)? I knit. 3. What are your favorite type of needles, would you like to try something new? My favorite type are bamboo though I've been knitting a lot with the knitpicks circs and with my denise needles. I'd like to try some rosewoods--or some of the new knitpicks dpns 4. Do you have a healthy supply of notions? I don't. I need more stitch holders (small and medium ones). I could use another tape measure possibly. 5. What one thing do you keep thinking you need to buy for your knitting habit (outside of yarn)? Um...nothing really. 6. What is your favorite 'quick knit/crochet' pattern (quick gratification) Hmm..hats or fingerless mitts. Miscellaneous 1. What is your favorite thing to do in the Winter? Sleep/stay warm! 2. What is your favorite animal? ostriches 3. Do you get the 'winter blahs'? Nope 4. What is your favorite way to beat the blahs? Knitting/reading/going for walks all bundled up in my knitted items! 5. What is the thing you are most looking forward to this spring? Seeing the flowers blooming again 6. What are your favorite treat? dark chocolate/cupcakes 7. What is your favorite board game? hmm...I don't really have a favorite board game! 8. Do you have any children (furry or human)? no 9. Do you have any allergies or special considerations you partner should know about? Nope, no allergies.

it's not friday? why does it feel like it is then?

I have to tell you, I miss being able to have the energy to post on an almost daily basis! It'll be back to work come Monday. It's been nice to just sit at home and catch up online. There's been some knitting but just as much as I'd knit if I were working during the day. A good friend of mine (who is celebrating her bday today) is expecting her third son in March. I didn't learn to knit until she was pregnant with her second son. I wanted to make her something amazing but obviously I haven't cast on for anything amazing for a baby. So, I've decided to knit up some bibs, a couple of Mason-Dixon washcloths, a Sheldon and possibly a pair of socks. We'll see. It took me an hour to pick out what colors I'd use for the bibs and the washcloths! The yarn has been ordered for Sheldon. I hope I have enough time to finish everything I plan to make for her.
I also have been itching to cast on for a pair of endpaper mitts. For at least two days, I've been going through the stash trying to see what two colors would go well together. I've settled on these two colors:
Hopefully I've made the right choice. But since I had to order some yarn for sheldon, I ordered a few colors to choose from for future pairs of some endpaper mitts. ;) I also need to make a hat for my fiance's dad because he likes my fiance's new hat (which I have yet to get a shot of because he wears it when he goes to work and leaves it in his car!
Did you know Sundara updated her shop today? It's specifically sock yarn but still. I was tempted but held off. (thank goodness!)
My crockpot recipe contest will close tomorrow at noon. That way, I can announce the winners on Saturday or Sunday and get all the goodies out in the mail come Monday. :) I will be drawing names for those items that were selected by more than one person.
Okay, better get back to my regularly scheduled knitting!

something I forgot!

As promised, here are progress pics of my spring things shawl. As usual, not sure which ones give you a better idea of what it looks like! You can't really see the detail of the lace pattern but that's because it's still in its beginning stages. I'm on repeat 10 of a possible 13+ of chart A. So far so good. My sister finally sent me the pics she took of our niece with the mittens on and ones with her wearing the swing coat.
Love the face!!
Wrangled by daddy. I think this was before she went berserk.

oh boy

Goodness. I had no idea I was such a busy knitter in 2007! I've been seeing everyone else's mosaics of all they accomplished in 2007 and I got curious as to how many projects I actually finished. There are two projects missing since there's a 36 pic limit. My convertible mittens are missing as well as the my last fo of 2007-a second basic roll brim hat. Oh well. I wonder what I will accomplish this year. I definitely need to conquer lace and a few more sweaters/tops. I also need to revisit the dishcloths because of that mad dishcloth stash of mine! I'm going to see if I can top my 37 fo record too. :)
